Backyard Beer Can Chicken

Ingredients

1 whole chicken (4 to 5 pounds)

2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter

3 tablespoons Dick Rubbin’s Cock Duster

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 can lager style beer

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or smoker to 350°F.

  2. Pat the chicken dry. Rub olive oil or butter all over the skin.

  3. Season generously with Cock Duster, salt, and garlic powder. Make sure to season inside the cavity as well.

  4. Open the beer and pour out about one third of the can.

  5. Place the chicken upright over the beer can so it stands vertically.

  6. Place chicken on grill and cook about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes until internal temp reaches 165°F in the breast and 175°F in the thighs.

  7. Carefully remove from grill and let rest 10 minutes before carving.

Tip: the steam from the beer keeps the chicken juicy while the spice blend creates incredible crispy skin.
